When you are trying to make a change to healthy eating to improve your overall health, increase energy, feel better, lose weight whatever your reason there are temptations everywhere for unhealthy options. We all know the many benefits of healthy eating and feeding our bodies well. Food is fuel. When we choose to fuel our body well we can perform well, reduce our risk of illness and feel great.
We make a decision to make healthy eating a priority. Without planning that commitment is often overwhelmed by our busy lifestyles. When hungry and short on time we don’t make the best decisions. One of my greatest life mentors taught me that when you plan your yes’s your no’s are automatic. Really soak that in….it can be so impactful in many areas of your life! When you fully commit to the YES’s and PLAN them out, you don’t even have to think about the NO. You already have a PLAN and a commitment to the decision you are going to make.
There are so many articles on success and how important it is to limit the number of decisions you make in a day. Including this one https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/244395 from Entrepreneur magazine. Planning out your healthy eating YES’s not only keeps you on a healthy eating track, and reduces your temptations to make unhealthy eating decisions and rely on your willpower to say no, but also makes you more effective in the rest of the important decisions you make in your life throughout the day. Think of your willpower as a resource throughout the day that can be depleted and make a decision to take it out the the equation. Decisions take energy so plan them in advance and don’t look back.
You can find countless articles that mention Mark Zuckerberg and Barack Obama and how their shirt choices to limit decisions.“I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community”?—?Mark Zuckerberg
Meal prep is just one of the ways you can take those decisions out of your day. You short through menu options once, and make a minimal decision each day of what to eat from your prep, all healthy, or you label and make no further decisions. This is also the reason so many of the “elimination diets” work. When people make commitment to “no carb” they at least took the donuts and processed sugar out of the decision equation.
Healthy eating is a LIFESTYLE choice. Creating a healthy lifestyle when it is a change takes planning just like any other change. The first 30 days will take your most serious commitment to your new lifestyle. Daily commitment these are my YES’s! It is also so much more positive in life to focus on the YES!!! YES is a happy word…..we don’t love to think of no…maybe it seems negative or like a restriction. No one likes restrictions. It makes sad when I see people’s posts about what they “can’t” have. This mindset makes it seem to us like healthy eating is burden and a daily punishment. Choose to focus on the positive!
